Motivational speaker, musician, and author Dhyani Ywahoo is a respected member of the spiritual community and a teacher of Ywahoo ancestral wisdom and Tsalagi/Cherokee traditions. Dhyani Ywahoo was raised and taught these spiritual practices by her grandparents and elders, and in that tradition, she has dedicated her life and career to learning and teaching the path and manifestation of wisdom, skill, and harmony on personal, family, and international levels. While her spiritual training came from her ancestors, Ms. Ywahoo received formal education at the State University of New York, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Chemistry.
Throughout her career, Dhyani Ywahoo has been extensively involved with organizations dedicated to peace and enlightenment. She is the founder and Spiritual Director of the Sunray Meditation Society, a center that focuses on energizing the potential for world balance through daily meditation and prayer. Founded in 1969, the Sunray Meditation Society supports a variety of activities and programs promoting peace, including Peacekeeper training and ministry around the world. In addition to her work with the Sunray Meditation Society, Ms. Ywahoo is the founder and Spiritual Director of Vajra Dakini Nunnery, a Buddhist center that shares dharma teachings with the community.
Along with providing leadership and guidance at the Sunray Meditation Society and Vajra Dakini Nunnery, Ms. Ywahoo is also involved with two community-based centers in Bristol, Vermont: Maple Leaf Hills Association and Beautyway Productions. Through music, writing, and various workshops, these two organizations strive to increase community growth and accomplishment.
As the 27th generation lineage bearer of the ancestral Ywahoo line, Dhyani Ywahoo is a strong supporter of nonprofit organizations that support Native American communities. She is the co-founder with Tigre Perez of Kanto de la Tierra and supports fund raising for native elders and Native American scholarships.
